Ariel Caballero - Owner/Stylist

Ariel started cutting hair at the ripe old age of 12.  Upon realizing that he had stumbled upon his calling he decided to make a real go of it and received his Barber license in 2001 from the Northwest College of Hair Design in Portland, Oregon and later went on to receive a Barber Stylist license from Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology in Boise, Idaho.  After working for urban barber shops in Portland for 7 years Ariel was lured to the mountains of Idaho and has never looked back.  In 2012 after years of working in salons and being asked to lower his music one too many times Ariel set out on his own and opened The Gem Barber Shop.  The Gem provides Ariel a place to continue to laugh, listen to good music and do great hair.  On his days off, Ariel can be found exploring the backcountry of Idaho with his dogs and family, fixing bikes or scooters and drinking his weight in coffee.

Paige Carey - Stylist

Paige grew up in Kirkland Washington. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1991. Wanting to leave the big city of Seattle for a smaller town, she and her family moved to Hailey in 1996. It is now more than 25 years later and she can't imagine living anywhere else! Paige raised her son and daughter here in the Wood River Valley and when they both graduated from college she decided to go back to school herself to earn her Cosmetology license. When she is not working, she can be found hiking, biking, back-packing, camping and exploring the mountains. Paige values kindness and goodness of the people living in this beautiful small town. She is excited to see you and cut your hair here at The Gem.
